Irene is a South Korean actress, singer, rapper, dancer, and member of the SM Entertainment company. She is the group’s leader and a part of Red Velvet – Irene & Seulgi, a division of the Red Velvet girl group.
The single “Happiness” was Irene’s first release as Red Velvet’s leader on August 1, 2014. Later, on July 6, 2020, she made her debut as a member of Red Velvet’s Irene & Seulgi, the group’s first subunit.

Early Life And Career
Irene attended an SM Entertainment audition in 2009 while still in high school with a buddy. Later that day, she got a call from SM Entertainment inviting her to work for the organization. Irene recalls receiving the call while en route to get ddeokbokki, Irene appeared in the music video for Henry’s song “1-4-3” as a fellow labelmate.

Irene, along with Lami and Jaehyun, was made public as a trainee for SMROOKIES on December 9, 2013.
She made her Red Velvet debut on August 1 with the digital single “Happiness”.
