Kim Nam-joon was born on September 12, 1994, in Dongjak-gu, South Korea. His family moved to Ilsan-gu when he was four or five years old. He has a younger sister and is the senior sibling of two. When RM was younger, watching Friends with his mother was the main way he learned English.
As a member of the hip-hop group “Bangtan Boys,” RM, formerly known as Rap Monster, is a well-known South Korean rapper, composer, and producer. His supporters in South Korea also refer to him as “Rapmon” in slang.
Being a brilliant student, he excelled in the classroom. He began rapping, nonetheless, at an early age and chose to pursue it professionally. Before he joined the “Bantan Boys,” he began as a solo performer and sang with a few local bands. He became the group’s leader after joining the “Bantan Boys,” in addition to being its primary rapper and lyricist.
