Top 10 Largest Dams in The World 2024
10. Tarbela Dam

The Tarbela Dam, located in Pakistan, is the world’s largest earth-filled levee. The Tarbela Reservoir was built by the levee, and it now has a capacity of 14.3 square kilometers ( acre- bases). Overlooking the Indus River, the Tarbela Dam was built.
The flow of the Indus River was unpredictable before the dam was completed in the late 1960s and early 1970s. This resulted in a disparity in Pakistan’s agricultural income, particularly during the country’s main growing season.
The Tarbela dam is now undergoing its fifth extension, which will boost the dam’s capacity to 1,410 megawatts.
