Nissan Maxima 2026: The Maxima Goes Electric

For more than 40 years, the Nissan Maxima has been immensely popular thanks to countless qualities such as reliability, efficiency, comfort, and the list goes on. Even though it hasn’t received a major redesign for the better part of the past decade, it is still a consumer favorite.

Well, that is about to change now as the Maxima is going to go all-electric. That’s right, Nissan is adding to their small, but growing fleet of electric vehicles. The Maxima 2026 is going to be the latest addition to it as it is shedding all of its ICE components for a greener future.

Information about Nissan’s next largest sedan is currently limited. But expectations are very high thanks to the images of the car that are available. The following shows you what you can expect front the Nissan Maxima 2026:

The Powertrain

The current Maxima is known for having a powerful engine that gives great acceleration while also protecting your fuel budget. For the new model, you can expect components to be shared with the upcoming ARIYA crossover vehicle, which includes the powertrain and platform.

The ARIYA offers a single motor configuration on its base model with front-wheel drive so the Maxima might as well. Of course, the highlight is the all-wheel drive model that shares systems with the mighty GTR to deliver a 0-60 mph time of 5 seconds.

With a better power-to-weight ratio, we can expect the Maxima 2026 to deliver a similar or even a better performance. But what we’re really hoping for is if Nissan offers an ultra-high-performance model based on the IMs concept that this car is loosely based on.

But enough about concepts – let’s talk reality for a moment – a supply of genuine Nissan parts. Every Nissan is only as reliable as the quality of the parts used in it. If you’re looking for a reliable supplier of genuine Nissan parts, find them at https://sts-global.com/nissan-parts

The Range

We can expect the Maxima 2026 to have a range similar to the ARIYA. Equip it right and the SUV does more than 300 miles on a full charge. Nissan will have to aim for this number if they want to make a statement. Otherwise, the Ariya does a minimum of around 265 miles.

Furthermore, if we’re going down the IMs route, then almost a hundred more miles of range is to be expected. It will also be interesting to see how fast it charges, as the Ariya can be charged to 80 percent in just half an hour. Let’s see how far technology will go a year from now.

The Looks

The Maxima has always been a great vehicle to look at, especially from the 90s and onwards. This new model is also a looker, with styling cues similar to the IMs concept. Some would say that it is a cross between a sedan and a crossover, but Nissan just describes it as “elevated”.

It has a fastback look, sharp and sleek lines on the body, and LED lighting. The wheels are very distinct from what we have nowadays – so distinct that they’re not even symmetrical. The body is expected to be made out of light and sustainable materials.

The rear has a look similar to a certain American boxy EV truck that’s all the hype right now. Once again, they’ve utilized an LED light bar like most of the other futuristic EVs. One of the most noticeable traits of this car is on the top of its roof.

We can see a pattern on it, which looks to be a sort of cell structure. This probably means that the car will use energy from the sun to charge its battery while driving (not as fast as a DC charger would though). If we’re right, it’ll be a marvelous offering from Nissan.

The Interior

We haven’t gotten a look at the Maxima EV’s interior yet but we can expect a roomy vehicle with a cockpit straight out of a sci-fi movie. The cabin should be full of sustainable materials, at least in the higher end models. Nissan should also increase the trunk size from the current model.

The Pricing

It is obvious that the Maxima 2026 will not be a cheap vehicle as neither is the current ICE model. However, it is expected that Nissan might sell the base model for around $45k – the price tag for the currently offered top variant. Only time will tell what it offers as standard.
