Different Types Of Wines And Their Purposes

Wine is one of the most fascinating things in the world. When it comes to range, only a few things can compare. From Pinot noirs to Bordeaux blends, there is just so much to work with. If you have a great taste and want to enjoy wine better, this short guide will help. Let’s go into the five main types of wines.

Red wine

The most popular wine you can try is red wine. It gets its name from the color of the wine and is derived from fermented grapes. The winemakers leave the grape’s skin while fermenting, giving it color and a fruity taste. It has around 14% alcohol content, so don’t drive when you’ve had some or you’ll need a DWI attorney in Austin, Texas, to get out of trouble.

Red wine is a healthier alternative to beer and can even be good for your heart. It is often paired with red meat, whether it is grilled or a steak. The wine also goes well with burgers and other foods high in fat.

Some popular red wines include Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot noir.

White wine

White wine is known as a versatile wine because of how it is used for cooking. This gold-tinted wine often has a lower alcohol content compared to red wine. White wine is more acidic and has a fruity flavor.

Like red wine, this wine is made from white grapes. Some winemakers may also use green grapes and that’s why we have some white wines with a tint of green.

White wine goes well with a wide range of foods. Rich white wine is perfect with grilled chicken as well as veggies and pastas. Sweet white wine, on the other hand, works well with pasta, cheese, smoked meat, and bread.

Some popular examples of white wine include Prosecco, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Blanc.

Sparkling wine

Sparkling wine is a hybrid of both white and red wines. The grapes used to make both are used here and it creates a unique taste and appearance. The wine looks slightly pinkish and has a fizzy Tex because of the carbon dioxide it contains.

Sparkling wine is paired with veggies, egg dishes, and fruit based foods. Champagne is the most popular sparkling wine so far.

Rose wine

The less popular rose wine is made from red grapes. It also has a significantly higher alcohol content than white wine. The wine has a shorter fermentation process and this gives it a unique taste.

You can pair the wine with creamy flavors such as cheesecake or dark chocolate. Pink moscato is one popular type of rose wine.

Dessert wine

Dessert wine is a sweet wine that is named after its taste. This type of wine covers a wide range, from red to white wine. It is served during dessert and may have a higher alcohol content than other wines.

Naturally, you can pair it with pies, mousses, and cake.
