3. Xiluodu Dam
After the Three Gorges Dam, the Xiluodu Dam is China’s second largest hydroelectric infrastructure. The dam, which is located on the Jinsha River in Yunnan Province, has a capacity of 13,860 megawatts.
The Xiluodu Dam and TGD, with a reservoir capacity of 12.67 billion cubic meters (bcm) and a flood control capacity of 4.65 billion cubic meters (bcm), can prevent floods of up to 4.6 billion cubic meters (bcm) in the Yangtze’s middle and lower reaches.
In terms of electricity generation, it is the world’s third-largest hydroelectric facility. It is also the world’s fourth-tallest dam, at a height of 937 feet (285.5 meters).
