thing I no longer use - part 2 - Kitchen šŸ½ļø
what are your thoughts on ways to make the kitchen a less toxic place? šŸ’

this video is not sponsored.

How we make healthier updates to our kitchen/home on a budget:
estatesales.net - a site I’ve been chirping about since I found it back in 2021. A place to find local estate sales near you, get a preview of what will be in the sale & find treasure! Some of the savings from gently used to sometimes brand new items:
• $884 tableware set retail (heath ceramics) for $24
• $80 stainless steel utensils set retail for $3
• Stainless steel & glass tabletop kitchen appliances (blender, food processor, emersion blenders, pressure cooker) for $5-$10
• Stainless steel kitchen accessories (measuring cups, measuring spoons, mixing bowls, etc) for $1-$5
• $300 cement bird bath for $10
• Vintage leather boots of every kind, retailing from $100-$300 for $5-$30
• 100% Cotton Handmade Vintage Quilts for $2-$5
• & so much more
A little tip for the site. Preview the images, look for sales with over 100 images, search key words if you’re looking for something specific, go to the sale early, bring cash for a better deal!

Other kitchen items we forgo:
• Air Fryers : from the murky nonstick coatings, plastic inlays getting heated with the food, cheap materials - we have never brought one into the home. Although! I have seen a fully glass & stainless steel one floating around the internet. Worth the search if you love air fryers
• Instant Coffee Machines/Pod Coffee : from the plastic inlays that are getting heated with steam & the pods itself shedding microplastics/endocrine disrupting agents - straight into the morning brew…it’s just not worth it
•Vintage Tablewear : we LOVE vintage decor, just not for eating from (especially hot foods)

Making any sector of our lives, healthier/less toxic, can take time. Every shift matters. With all of the information we’re taking in these days - may we find ways to become less fearful/overwhelmed & more empowered to make change šŸ¤²šŸ½ 2025-02-17 23:07:07 .. 29,876 -64% 299 -87%

A 2024 tribute šŸŒ€ although I don’t measure by the Gregorian calendar in my own personal life.

What are your thoughts? Grateful for anything in particular this powerful year? šŸ’

I have been molded & shaped by potent experiences in 2024. A student to the land here in Texas, weaving a beautiful life with petricej , learning how to speak my mind/heart/soul with more courage, prioritizing my health & the health of this earth - in one sacred handshake, sipping my morning tea with deeper understandings of presence, being honest with where I could use support & growth, magnetizing blessings as a bi-product to letting go of my identities will & allowing for God to use me as a vessel, deep lessons in kindness > niceness, nervous system repair, reading…my goodness I love books all over again, nourishing my body, fasting for clarity & connection to source, getting out of my head and into my body, breathing deeper, seeing more of what’s possible & good in this world amidst the chaos, hard decisions, easy decisions.

This year was potent because of the effort of everyone, as a collective. Grateful to be here with you all. 2025-02-01 02:34:57 A 2024 tribut.. 15,500 -81% 275 -88%
What’s something you do, that feeds the soul? 🪶

Surprisingly our little box robot didn’t frighten the birds. petricej

Feeding places get me. Watching different species come together for the basics, like food & water - moves me. Who shows up, how they interact with others & their unique little characteristics…I could watch them all day. Some are young, injured, weathered from an epic life & many years. The stories they tell by simply being is such a gift.

We can learn a lot about ourselves, life, the meaning of it all through observation of others. Getting both lost & found in the process.

I hope this brings you a bit of peace.
We’re just like the birds.
Even though we live in our direct groups, communities, surrounded by people who share similar values to us - we are all drinking & eating from the same earth & it will always be something that brings us together. By its genius design.

Milo/Milagros is looking for his forever home šŸ
He’s located just outside of Austin TX, hanging with us at our homestead.

Maybe this is you or someone you know! Please share to other dog lovers šŸ¤²šŸ½

• He’s about a year old
• Loves other dogs, wants friends immediately
• Loves humans & kids
• Doesn’t like cats, he chases prey
• Has a broken arm on the mend, healing well
• Flea free
• Playful, although limited with his little arm
• Knows how to ā€˜sit’
• Incredibly sweet natured, goofy
• Needs someone who’s familiar with his breed (we think Border Collie mix)
• Needs active family/house - space to roam, lifestyle that allows for activity

We deeply considered keeping him, however he is not happy about our cats - of which we have 4. My kitties are all rescues and have their own traumas & so we’re being mindful šŸˆā€ā¬›

Praying we can find this special man a forever home in time for New Year. What a blessing he’s been. How grateful I am to have been driving with petricej on that road at the exact time he needed some help. God is great. 2024-12-20 21:54:54 .. 9,033 -89% 116 -95%
What are your thoughts on undergarments, the textiles widely used to make them & their impact on health? šŸ’

industryofallnations creates incredible unisex briefs/boxers made with 100% organic cotton & dyed with Indigo / undyed all together. You can find a coupon to their entire online shop, on my ā€˜discounts’ hi-light tab. Thank you for sending some of your mindful creations, to help talk about this important topic šŸŒ€

Reasons petricej & I wear truly natural textile/organic undergarments 🩲:

- For Fertility/ Reproductive Health : just some of the chemicals found in undergarments (cheap clothing in general) that affect these areas of our health are… Formaldehyde, Azo Dyes (even with bans & regulations in place there is non compliance and they are being used - mostly in fast fashion), Phthalates, Flame retardants, Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), Nonylphenol ethoxylates (NPEs) & more.
- Overall Health : what we wear on our bodies matters & our clothing can be a driving source in increasing toxicity exposure
- Natural garments help maintain healthy eco-systems in our beautiful world
- The sometimes/often higher price point of natural garments helps support farmers/workers/companies doing good work fairly. It also helps us remember what things cost, as fast-fashion & cheap items have massively skewed our understanding of what things actually cost/ who it affects.
- Wearing natural fibers can have massive benefits 1) the vibration of natural textiles is higher, this matters 2) natural textiles like linen/cotton/wool house inherent properties such as…breathability, being antibacterial / hypoallergenic / ultra-hygenic, odor resistance, durability, temperature regulating
- Take a browse to see which companies are more likely to pay their workers fair, have safe working conditions & exceed industry standards when it comes to ethics…it’s mostly companies creating with natural materials & dyes

Leave the Leafs šŸ what are your thoughts šŸ’?
What do you do/ don’t do with your tree fall every year?

8 million + tons of leaves end up in American landfills annually. They’re carted to dump sites not able to return properly to the earth - where they fell. Where their shelter & nutrients are needed by critters, creatures, soil life & plants.

Earth is of genius design. Knows what she’s doing. And we can reap deeper abundance by working with the cycles & within the natural rhythms.

This Fall/Winter consider supporting life in these ways:
•leaving the leafs
•creating bug snugs
•consider piling fallen limbs & branches into mound for shelter to animals
•careful to upturn stones & logs, friends may be keeping warm šŸ
•watch for injured / vulnerable wildlife that could use some support
•sharing seeds/feed with birds & creatures
•water supplies
•putting your bare feet on the ground, going outside to feel the change in season…getting out of ā€˜comfort’ and into the elements
•lean into seasonal eating, support local
•create shelters for wildlife during freezes

So many people have HOA’s - I get it. While we work on ways to help regulating boards update to the times - there’s still so much we can do. Our yards, even a small portion of them - can be havens for wildlife/acts of regeneration/ places of sanctuary.

Things I no longer use, Part 1. Beauty & Personal Care/Hygeine. What are your thoughts? šŸ’

Slather on & dousing ourselves with unknown substances/unfamiliar ingredients - has become an everyday norm of life. Just because something is common, doesn’t make it right. And certainly not healthy.

Our everyday protocols, routines, regiments - can be one of the most impactful ways to reject what doesn’t belong & invite what does. For our health, the health of our families, this sacred Earth & all its beings.

And the great news is, we’re already making strides in this space. Because of you.

Ode to the Wondrous Cacao šŸ¤²šŸ½
What are some of your favorite ethical chocolate brands/ places to buy cacao products? šŸ’

#ad I’m grateful to the country of The Dominican Republic godomrep & elsenderodelcacao for the beautiful visit.
Interactive learning experiences like this one are incredibly worth a trip. Bringing back teachings that can apply and inspire how we do things at home. Meeting farmers directly, witnessing their dedication to the land through sustainable practices...is something that changes your life. It changes how we view food, people, labor, life, maybe even ourselves, igniting a desire to be a healthy part of the food/consumption web.

Want to see your chocolate from seed to bar? A trip to The Dominican Republic is an incredible place for deep meaningful travel & experiences like this are abundant.

Resources to help you in your cacao search:
Fairtradeamerica.org : click the ā€˜shop the fairtrade’ button & browse by category, or shop ā€˜all products’
Slavefreechocolate.org : browse the ā€˜ethical chocolate companies’ tab to find an EXTENSIVE list of mindful chocolate companies.

Extra search words for your cacao products onlineā€¦ā€˜indigenous owned’, ā€˜direct trade’, ā€˜fair trade’, ā€˜mayan owned cacao producer’, ā€˜bean to bar’, ā€˜farm to bar’, ā€˜beyond fair trade’

The more a company shares specific information about the farms/families they source from to make their products - the stronger the traceability. Which helps us become connected to the story, the process and the people who make cacao possible.

I’m deeply inspired to find ways to support pre-existing companies to evolve their products, to use fair-trade/ethically sourced ingredients. People creating more demand for this kind of product helps move the needle & I appreciate you for caring.

Responsible Travel šŸ¤²šŸ½
What are your thoughts? šŸ’

#ad Thank you to the country of godomrep for wanting to highlight not just Tourism, but Responsible Travel.
Something I feel should be discussed much more, as over 1.5 billion (and increasing) people engage as international tourists every year.

We had such a beautiful time driving through the country, enjoying organic grown coffee in the mountains and getting connected with the locality.

How we move about a foreign country has a massive impact on its local people, environment & the future direction of tourism as an industry.

Most of my international travel is for work & for meaningful purposeful experiences. Ones that are rooted in hands-on learning, advancing a skill set and ones inspire our land project here in Texas. Before traveling; I do a deep dive, ensuring my time in a foreign country considers everyone who calls it home.

Here are some of my considerations:

• Research prior - what is the history of where we’re going? What is currently happening?
• Learn the language, even a little!
• Know the exchange rate & living wage of where you’re visiting - considering this when leaving gratuity, shopping locally
• Learn what the country cultivates well, its artisan goods
• Plan enriching learning experiences run by locals themselves
• Buy from local communities directly, investing into their systems
• See the country through the locals eyes, make some friends
• Connect with indigenous communities
• Honor the space and leave no trace
• Be aware of water & energy consumption
• Try new things
• Sustainable accommodations
• If we need specific clothes for a trip, we thrift first - vacations fuel fast fashion purchases
• Seeing animals wild in their protected natural setting or through an accredited sanctuary. A picture isn’t worth their suffering.
• Considering body care products, their effect on waterways and aquatic life
• And of-course be safe

There is a world of information online for this topic, specific to countries you may be visiting. I hope this helps!

What does Health mean to you? šŸ’

Health, to me, is this & more.

When we look to groups of people who live the longest, we see a few overlapping things :
•they move their bodies daily/ have walkability in their towns & villages
•deep sense of community & belonging
•they laugh
•they are outside a lot, sun exposure
•eat fresh local food

As simple as these things may seem; our ā€˜modern’ world can be designed in a way where these things are not easy to obtain. Beginning with what we can is the best place to start šŸ¤²šŸ½

Most of my bandanas are vintage, made of cotton & silk. I explanted February of 2022 & it was one of the greatest decisions of my life šŸ¤²šŸ½ My incredible doctor drrituchopra removed my breast implants and brought my body back home.

bethanyrreed just underwent her explant and watching her and so many others come out on the other side of this surgery, is powerful. It’s also her birthday today if you’d like to join me in wishing her a beautiful day šŸŒ€

When I talk about Explanting; I speak specifically to my experience with drrituchopra . Explanting can be done in many ways & I can only attest to his work & care. He is truly a special doctor. He’s located in Beverly Hills California & welcomes patients from all over the world.

In regards to Explanting;
I see so many videos of plastic surgeons who deny BII (breast implant illness), create insecurity in the shape/size of a woman’s natural breast with their use of language & use their authority in this space to coerce women into keeping implants & prioritizing cosmetics over health.

Finding the right doctor who listens, cares, believes; is just as important as the explant it self - in my opinion.

Since Explanting, what’s changed:
• Breathing Capacity - I am able to expand my lungs in ways breast implants limited. Which I only became aware of after removing them. Breathing better elevates my life because breath is life
• Further Alignment - They were the one aspect of myself that were not in line with my value system & created a fracture in practicing what I preached
• Mobility - I regained full range of motion again! Being able to extend and bend - not compensating for the implants
• Autoimmunity - I removed a leading cause in autoimmunity
• Posture improvement
• Mood - until I removed the implants I had no idea the impact they were having on my nervous system, my temperament. I was operating with a constant low grade irritability & I believe it was my bodies discomfort with a foreign object manifesting as such. As soon as they were out of my body - I became more balanced in my emotions. The change was palpable to those around me.

& much more

Do you feed your cats/dogs wet or dry food? šŸ’

When our cats began to have health issues I decided to move them into having a diet that mimics the one they’d have in nature. We moved from having dry food, to wet food & finally to a wet raw diet. 2 of the cats immediately took to the diet & the other 2 needed some time.

In that time; they’ve ALL had incredible changes in their health & their energy has skyrocketed. It’s visible what this diet change has done for them. I’m no Vet - and this isn’t advice. Rather a testimony from observant cat enthusiast.

#ad

There is no shortage of dry food feeders, so it’s been so nice to find a wet food feeder. We love the petlibro Polar Wet Food Feeder - using it especially when we’re away on a short trip. 3 meals can keep cool for 3 days & we can schedule their meals from their smartapp.

🐱

Nylita, Mason, Ish & Cricket have their own indoor space, Catio (we’ve built the frame so far and are starting the shelves & all the fun parts) & soon to be built - outdoor enclosure on a clover patch. We are all outside daily, sometimes an hour - sometimes 5 hours. They love to explore & we monitor them to protect wildlife.

These 4 guys are our LAST little indoor/semi outdoor kitty crew. Any new cats will be Barn Cats / more free roaming, stay tuned on why šŸˆā€ā¬›šŸˆ I’m sure many people will relate.

Many of us are in a process of re-wilding & we’re taking our cats on this journey with us. From what we at, how we eat, how we live & our time in Nature - things are changing. And we’re all thriving from it. Stay tuned on more.

Heading outdoors with a little pack to help us experience earth deeper & is a form of continued education. Imagine if this was a part of school curriculums at an early age, being a routine part of the schedule. We might have more confidence with the elements from exposure, have a broad understanding of the plant/insect/fungi/animal world, enhance real time problem-solving skills, feel a part of a team, find joy and fulfilment in the ā€˜small things’ & always feel we have a place to return to (that’s free) when we could use a safe space to lean on/into.

And for as many times as i’ve been outside, been on a similar hike, returned to a ā€˜special spot’ - the experience is never the same. There’s always something new to learn, remember, discover & we are never too old to keep showing up to the school of earth. 2024-08-26 00:22:28 What.. 13,713 -83% 489 -78%
For those of you who asked, here’s my Birds Nest Updo🪺

I love to create hairstyles with no/minimal product. A life of ballet showed me the power of a hair pin. We can create so much, with the simple pin! I like the ones with soft tips, to be able to glide into hair softly.

I hope this helps make it easier for you to create your own little nest! Would you like to see more simple hairstyles like this one? 2024-08-23 21:39:40 For those of you who.. 63,585 -23% 446 -80%
What are your thoughts? šŸ’

I’ve spent years researching the realities of nail polish, gel polish, fake nails, nail products - ingredients. And I have to say, there isn’t much I’m jazzed up about. Cosmetics in general, as we know, is such a ridiculously low regulated space (especially in the U.S.). To become aware, to truly know what is happening in this space - we have to do some digging on our own.

With everything that nail products come with, I wonder if it’s truly worth it?

A simple search online will reveal studies that are popping up linking the nail space (products, process of setting with UV machines & technicians environments) - to major health issues & complications.

Even just looking into each ingredient listed on these products is enough to really question the need for certain items/ rituals/ routines all together.

I’m absolutely all for tending to ourselves. Both health & elements of beautification. But I think both can be done in a harmonious way, where it doesn’t come at a detriment to our wellbeing.

I also wonder how many of us actually, if we get down into our truth, even want to paint/do our nails? Because music and media has engraved ā€˜Nails Did, Hair Done, Everything Did’ so deep into our brains - are some of us feeling (as I have) like we are incomplete without these services/features? Unworthy of being desired until we do?

These days I love to tend to my nails by trimming & soft filing them short (relevant to my life, as I garden and tend to land). Long nails are beautiful! And nourishing my skin - both hands & feet with simple oils, massages, pressure point activations & light buffing when it feels right.

For all of the traditions we find ourselves in, I wonder how many we actually would have adopted - had the influence & pressure never existed.

Something to ponder šŸ¤²šŸ½
