It is possible to feel love again after heartbreak ❤️‍🩹

It does take work but anything worth having takes work! In fact, a case can be made that it takes more work to remain bitter, sad and defensive. So if we can’t avoid hard work, why not choose the work that leads to healing and love?

A worthy question on this Valentine’s Day.. thanks for engaging with this episode! 2025-02-15 02:08:13 It is possib.. 1,171 -64% 30 -55%
If “contemptuous” is a word that can accurately describe an aspect of your relationship with a loved one, we share an idea on how to spot it and ways to overcome it.

It’s a common thread in relational breakdowns in general and it’s good to know you have the power to overcome it…

Erwin speaks to a reality check for a lot of communicators especially in the church world.

It’s a good insight on the understandable desire to play it safe and deliver some solid “apple pie” 🍎🥧

There is also a desperate need for speakers and leaders who are willing to get creative and innovative even if it can appear to take you out of your comfort zone.

Not everybody has a passion to reach beyond what feels normal to them, but if you do, conversations like this are important to hear and to have! 2025-02-08 03:05:17 Erwin speaks .. 630 -81% 39 -42%
I could talk to erwinmcmanus all day—his insights on communication are always profound and innovative.

As someone who helps speakers refine their craft, I deeply appreciate the way Erwin approaches communication. Growing in “skill” is needed but growing in character and authenticity is imperative...

That’s often the difference between a speaker you enjoy and one who truly impacts you.

I highly recommend his book 7 Frequencies of Communication for anyone looking to connect on a deeper level—especially with those you love.

52 years of marriage. 46 years pastoring CCC in Brooklyn, now 40,000 members strong and growing. He’s counseled three sitting presidents, hosted two Popes, and made a significant economic and social impact in NYC in ways few churches ever have.

Dr. Bernard is special, and I’ve learned so much from his wisdom through different seasons of life. This conversation was a breath of fresh air for me—I think you’ll feel the same.

Hearing an outspoken, proud conservative speak on heavy topics with grace and kindness is rare. We’ve accepted a new political norm where “class and dignity” are no longer expected from either side. So when you do hear it, it means even more.

We dive into statements like:

“You cannot have voted for Harris and call yourself a Christian.”
“Finally, God’s choice for president is back in office.”
“Who you vote for shows whether you are a real Christian or not.”
We also talk about race, conflicting beliefs, and how to hold the tension of complicated conversations.

From Dr. Bernard’s personal journey—including his early connection to the Nation of Islam and how it led him to Christ—to powerful insights on shaping our worldview through faith, this episode has a lot to offer.

This girl has taught me a lot! Just so happens, she can SING.. and causally taught herself how to play some piano. Her peaceful and powerful voice always reminds me to slow it down and take it all in… I can see a collab with billieeilish working well! For Charlie sky is the limit…

If you demand things of people that you yourself do not honestly embody or do, it leads to dysfunction. This can be a hard truth to embrace.

I had to embrace my violation of this principle in my life and in it led to a lot healthy change.

Parents don’t often see this angle, but when they do it radically can change the dynamic of your family. One of the challenges every parent faces, is the temptation to keep an image you think your kids have of you, at all costs.

Typically that revolves around looking good, being “right” and staying in “control.”

That inevitably leads to a lack of vulnerability and when you meet young people that lie a lot or struggle to honestly share their feelings, it doesn’t take forensic evidence to figure out where they may have seen that modeled!

Good news is that is never too late to live open and honest. Even as a parent! brycecrawford thanks for this perspective you shared. It’s helped a lot of people! 2025-01-28 01:30:25 If you dema.. 5,750 +78% 26 -61%
“They might not like this.”
“They dont understand me.”
“if I try this, they might not…”
“did you see what they said about you online”..

if you have ever thought or lived bound by anything similar, a helpful thing to define is who is “they” in your life.

That insatiable need to please, appease or explain things to “them” is part of the broken human condition and there is freedom when you begin to overcome that. Who makes you better?
Who encourages you?
Who challenges you?
Who is bold enough to do all of those things while still supporting you as you grow?

That is the “they” that matters. Also good to keep in mind if “they” were not there for you when it “all went wrong”, be careful of those who come back around when it “starts to look right” again.

A consistent THEY does not flinch in bad weather!
Going to spend more time this year talking about this concept, due to the power of getting it right!

Thanks for engaging with this episode, glad it’s been helpful!

I loved this insight from brycecrawford…

How we manage our phones is often directly reflective of how we manage our actual lives. From boundaries to discipline to what we value, a lot of that can be seen in what for most of us, is our constant companion! I like this angle Bryce takes.

The future is bright! brycecrawford is a powerful and bold young man who is making a huge difference in our world.

His influence grew dramatically numerically, when a video of him praying with a self described “satanist” went viral. He has continued to be a light in dark spaces and prove yet again, if you are consistently kind you will be consistently effective.

I asked my kids about Bryce when I was learning about him, and there real time responses were:

romanbrettlentz : “dad, he’s awesome. Do you even have young people on your podcast”?

avaangellentz “dad, I love that guy! He is really cool and you can tell he is kind.”

charliejaynelentz “dad, Bryce is super dope. Have him on more. Don’t cater to old people.”

Acute feedback from my high counsel! They were all exactly right..He has a theovon like charisma with a wisdom beyond his years.

-to my fellow parents: we talk about what you may not know the Gen Z human in your house. It’s enlightening.

-to my fellow Jesus followers: we talk about how to share your faith, what that means in todays world and what boldness can really look like.

-to my fellow humans on a different spiritual path than mine: we talk about listening to others who dont believe what we believe and its a good reminder for all of us!

Hope this episode brings some light to your day! brycecrawford I appreciate you!

Human error note: I reference one of my favorite scriptures in the episode which is 1 peter 3:15. For some reason I said it was in the book of Philemon. Yet, that provided me this opportunity to double down and point out how much I love this. “ In your hearts, revere Jesus as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.” In today’s culture, it’s never been more timely to see and hear this directive that can change every encounter you have…. 2025-01-22 23:32:30 .. 6,083 +88% 53 -21%
Headed to NYC to honor and celebrate the life of my friend and brother Chris Bernard.

He was a source of strength for many people and was one of my first real friends when we moved to New York and is one of the reasons the Knicks will always matter to me.

He gave me great insight on how to support people in that industry and I never forgot. He was consistent, loyal and kind through all seasons as a friend and that represents the type of human he was. My heart is heavy with sadness and I’m also so grateful I was able to know him.

He will be deeply missed and never forgotten. His wife Amanda is a spectacular person and I know she will lead Roman, Jude and Chloe with courage through this hard time. Amanda, you are loved and covered in prayer!

Today I am reminded again to never leave a kind word unsaid to somebody that you love. If they cross your mind, perhaps it’s for a reason and it’s always a great time to encourage somebody in your life. Tomorrow is not promised! Really proud of my daughters!

At times they have been put in vulnerable positions due to circumstances outside of their control.

This can either create bitterness, resentment and fearful living or it can produce resolve, resilience and a powerful ability to “do hard things well.”

That’s the story for my girls.. avaangellentz shares about parts of that journey during this convo and she’s as honest as she is bold! Learning what to do with that feeling of “being misunderstood” in a healthy way, is pivotal in the pursuit of a healthy life.

charliejaynelentz will be making her own fresh Lights on appearance as soon as I can book her as a guest! Thanks for the feedback regarding this episode, glad it’s been an encouragement!

I love my family!

This whole conversation reminded me about decisions we have to make as parents to create a space where honesty can actually happen.

We say we want it, but sometimes honesty is painful…

Things ive heard my kids tell me:
“Dad, I don’t know if I trust you.”
“Dad, sometimes I dont think you really see me.”
“Dad, there have been times where it feels you are always disappointed in me.”
“Dad, Im scared of your reactions sometimes and it makes me hesitate to talk to you.”

There was a time in my life where each of these statements would have brought a passionate defense, reasonable context and even a spin on what I heard that took the emphasis off of ME.

The growth I am passionate about pursuing, has put me in a different position to hear things like this should they come and use them as opportunities for connection, and fresh growth. It’s a choice to remain open that we can all make that I know can shift the entire dynamic of a family in very powerful ways.. And, it opens up better jokes too! A family that laughs a lot, is most likely one that feels safe around each other and that’s worth thinking about…

Hope you enjoy this, episode out now on all platforms !

“Influence and pain grow at the same rate…”

If you want to impact more people, there is always a cost to it!

This only becomes an issue when we expect something different than that.

If you know it’s part of the plan, the pain you experience as you grow can be used as fuel that can shape where you are headed in a really powerful way. 2025-01-11 22:30:51 “Influence and pa.. 5,770 +78% 88 +31%
chandlerdmoore has a special place in my heart. As a friend, as a brother, as a songwriter.. we had a conversation about pain, purpose, passion and peace while you may not understand all thats going on.. we also ate Popeyes chicken and biscuits mid podcast and that could become a regular thing! We talked about how he writes songs, what it’s like to win 5 Grammies, his process as a creator, how to keep a love for God in the middle of a culture that does not subscribe to that.. and of course I asked him to sing!

His song “refiner” landed at the hardest time in my life. I could not foresee a future for myself, that made sense. My choices put me in a position where there was no way out. I had asked God to either rescue me somehow, or I was going to take matters into my own hands.

Anybody who has walked through a valley so dark that you contemplate that option, you understand how hopeless it all feels. For whatever reason, that song connected with me and I had it on repeat and ended up saying so be it, God! Refine me, help me.

Well, refine me He did. Not the way I would have chosen! Yet, it was the way it needed to happen… To think that Chandler somewhere at some point had the courage to write a song not knowing who or where it might help somebody, is fascinating to me.

And thats why we need people to continue to dream, and write and create and step out of comfort zones because you simply do not know what God can do with what you have to offer.. its so much bigger than you! Or the fear that his holding you back from creating and trying something “risky..”

I pray this episode inspires people to dream bigger, work passionately and impact the world with what God gave you…

“Stay at home mom?”
The question “what do you do” typically leads us to point to a label or definition that we have been given or is common in our society.

That leads to us immediately talking about what we do, which is often does not describe who we truly are! It’s helpful to take a look at what labels you have been given and possibly have accepted that are limiting even how you see yourself.

What matters most, is what you say about you!

This was such an inspiring conversation.

fatjoe has built a legacy of elevating those around him—a rare and powerful quality in the music industry. One shining example is scottstorchofficial - whose story shows what can happen when you step out in faith, hone your craft, and have someone believe in you. It makes me wonder how many producers, songwriters, and creatives are walking around with untapped potential, waiting for their moment.

What if 2025 was the year you took risks, pushed your limits, and embraced your gifts? Don’t underestimate what God has placed inside you.

My son romanbrettlentz has a gift for hearing and developing music, and he’s blessed with a mentor like iammiketodd who constantly pours into him. Mike recently told him, “Be okay with learning, not being the expert, and trying new things.” Such a simple yet profound truth.

So here’s my question of the day: what are you doing with the gifts God has given you? What you have is special. What if you started treating it like that?
